Chapter 61: Transformed Clone
After Shen Chong heard what I said, he pulled me into the car without saying a word, and then drove in front of a small, dilapidated three-story building.
In the middle of the journey, I was however thinking about Liu Ke and Chen Yanlu, as well as that scaled man. I didn't notice how Shen Chong drove the car.
This small building was very dilapidated, under the sunlight, the yellowed white tiles gave off a musty smell, and a few large, decolorized characters with rusted steel frames stood on the roof of the small building.
"Institute." Three big, simple words, but a flavor of isolation.
This was my immediate feeling, and after getting out of the car and walking a little closer, that feeling was most obvious.
There is a yard in front of the small building, which is empty without anything, the yard wall is an iron fence, the yard door is also the old iron gate, has rusted.
Connected to the iron gate were two white stone pillars with two large white lampshades.
Even under the gaze, it gave off a pale and cold aura, telling the outsiders that outsiders are not to be approached.
Shen Chong narrowed his eyes slightly and pushed open the courtyard door, and a cold sweat fell on my forehead.
Not because the door is not locked, but because the building around, there is no other building, which in our city, is simply impossible to happen.
Shen Chong greeted me to follow faster, I moved my feet, just as I stepped into the iron gate, I felt a trance as if my body was separated from my consciousness.
The door of the small building, an old security door, black rust spots spitting out its age, Shen Chong frowned and pressed the doorbell.
I found that the cat's eye of this door, surprisingly, there are eight, the whole door of the top, middle and bottom of the left and right corners all have cat's eyes, which means that the person inside, can see everything in front of the door.
Half a day, no one came to open the door, I was a little impatient, just about to ask Shen Chong is no one, but Shen Chong suddenly made a silent gesture.
I heard a light footstep.
Creak.
The door opened.
An old man with gray hair, but still in high spirits, looked at the two of us in surprise, then stared at Shen Chong and frowned for a moment, saying, "Why did you come, and bring outsiders?"
Shen Chong's expression suddenly became strange, then said with a somewhat chilly voice, "I ran into it."
The old man's face changed drastically, and he immediately pulled the two of us into the house, then closed the door of the room with force.
My mind went blank, and before I could understand what had happened, I was pressed onto the couch by the old man in one fell swoop.
"Where? What kind of person? Any genes?" The old man asked three questions in a row.
Shen Chong frowned and said, "He killed my wife, the hospital still has the file, I don't know if there's any blood left, but, it should be from the original body."
I was a bit dazed, not understanding the conversation between the two.
Shen Chong, however, looked at me and then said, "I didn't see the other one, it was all she saw."
The old man's gaze instantly focused on me, like a vulture seeing carrion, I actually saw an aura of excitement in his eyes.
"Little girl, just call me Pei Lao, speak quickly."
I looked blankly at this old man called Pei Lao, now his face had long since lost the serious aura that he had when he opened the door just now, but rather a wave of extreme excitement.
Shen Chong's face was disheveled, collapsed on the sofa, looking at the ceiling without saying anything.
He remembered Bai Mei, right?
I suddenly nose a little sour, I thought of the morning research Lu, he in order to save me but sacrificed too much.
Right now, his name is still on the wanted list. There are more than a dozen policemen's lives, credited to his head.
I was a bit dazed. A big hand, however, kept waving back and forth in front of my eyes.
"Hey, little girl?" Pei Lao kept calling me with an anxious face.
I shook my head violently and pulled my thoughts back.
Then looking at Pei Lao, I gritted my teeth and said, "I'm still not quite sure what you guys are talking about."
Pei Lao fiercely slapped his thigh and said in a hateful voice, "See how I didn't even think of it. Oh right, Shen Chong what did you just say, your wife was killed?"
My eyelids fluttered violently twice, and sure enough, Shen Chong's disheveled aura came down thicker and thicker. The entire person seemed to be shrinking into the sofa.
I pulled the corner of Peilao's coat, and he looked embarrassed, then blinked twice.
I almost didn't hold back and laughed out, this old man was not what he appeared to be, on the outside he looked like a serious scholar but in actuality he was an old codger.
Shen Chong suddenly lowered his voice and said, "Pei Lao is the director of this generation of this institute, he will tell you everything, I'll go back to the car for a while."
I looked blankly at Shen Chong's back as he left, and the door creaked twice, opening and closing.
Pei Lao sat down on the sofa next to him, as if his eyes but suddenly a little downcast. The voice also became a little hoarse.
"Little girl, what is your name?"
"Lumi." I looked at Pei Lao somewhat unnaturally, his face, faster than a woman turning the pages of a book.
Pei Lao seemed to be stuck in an ancient memory, his eyes closed as he began to think, the wrinkles on the corners of his eyes spoke of his age.
He sighed, then slowly said, "Thirty years ago, I took over here."
I frowned, wondering what Liu Ke had to do with thirty years ago, and he was only twenty this year? I had some trouble remembering his age.
But I didn't interrupt Pei Lao.
"Actually, we have two successors, an administrator and an RD. I was the administrator, and I wasn't at the level of my partner, the director at the time, who was also him."
Only, suddenly one day he went crazy, hugged me and cried that he had developed the latest result.
But disaster struck. That night the lab was burglarized and all the information inside was stolen.
He had a nervous breakdown and said there must be a mole here.
There were only two people here, me and him, how could there be a mole.
I frowned, somewhat unable to understand what Pei Lao was saying.
"We searched I don't know how many times, turning the entire institute up and down, and surprisingly found no less than twenty pinholes." When Pei Lao said this, he was obviously a bit agitated.
I knew that it was about to get to the point and held my breath.
Pei Lao waved his arms and spat, "We survive under the surveillance of others every day. So, as soon as the research results came out, they were stolen by that person."
I frowned and said, "What research results."
Pei Lao stopped moving, a trace of intoxication surprisingly appeared on his face before he sighed dismally, "Turning to human cloning."
My eyes widened and my breath caught, immediately understanding why Shen Chong had brought me to this place straight away.
Pei Lao suddenly stood up, then tightly grabbed my shoulders, the excitement in his eyes bubbling up again as he said word for word, "Thirty years have passed, and I don't hate that person for stealing the information anymore because we didn't know if it would work or not, but you guys really saw it."
My shoulders ached and I gritted my teeth, "How do you know it won't be twins?"
Pei Lao shook his head, widened his eyes, and looked at me, "Do you know why Shen Chong came to me."
I didn't understand, so Pei Lao continued, "He is the son of the companion I had back then."
This sentence was said lightly, but it was like a thunderbolt that rumbled and exploded in my ears.
"Stolen information, there are failures and successes, have you ever seen a mutated person, or animal?" Pei Lao suddenly said.
Cold sweat broke out on my back.
At once, I felt that this institute was all filled with formalin all of a sudden.
Pei Lao shook his head and sighed, "The information was not backed up, and that companion of mine was knocked into a vegetative state the next day by a piece of spinning head that fell from the sky."
I blurted out, "Didn't you say that Shen Chong is his son?"
Pei Lao hemmed and hawed, "I'm telling you, don't tell Shen Chong, but you have to promise me that you'll help me find the original body of that turned clone."
I hesitated, the person he was talking about is Liu Ke …… Pei Lao but continued, "Shen Chong came to me because he wanted to know the way to be able to deal with him, I used my toes and thought that you guys must have suffered a big loss."
I nodded with a pale face and said, "A lot of people died."
Pei Lao was thoughtful, then said, "Then do you promise?"
I nodded with difficulty.
Pei Lao hemmed and hawed and said, "Little girl you know that there is a technological means called test tubes, right?"
My face changed, Pei Lao continued to sigh: "This old thing himself lying in bed every day someone to wait for shit and piss, but left a mess, I have to look for information, but also to take care of this institute, how can I let him so easy? So …… I got him a son out directly, and the old man is just going to go underground through the fun."
I looked at Pei Lao who laughed loudly, my ears buzzed, Shen Chong's life is too pitiful, and this Pei Lao, there must be a problem with his nerves.
I somewhat wanted to escape from here.
Pei Lao seemed to have discovered my intentions, and grabbed my shoulders in a flash, saying, "Speak, tell me everything you know, I can help you."
I wrinkled my brow, and Pei Lao let go of his hand all of a sudden, then sat back down on the sofa. The face was back to being as stern as it had been at the beginning.
Biting my lip, I began to speak from the death of the principal ……
After speaking, Pei Lao's eyebrows were about to wrinkle into a Chuan character. With a somewhat heavy voice, he said, "Are you saying that those creatures, were all made by clones?"
I nodded, I indeed hadn't seen anyone other than that Liu Ke.
Pei Lao's face was ugly, gritted his teeth, and said word by word, "This is a yang conspiracy."
I was surprised, and he continued, "That person, is too smart and too ruthless, he used the genes of the Liu Ke you mentioned as a source to breed another Liu Ke.
The original body didn't know that it had a clone, that person, gave all the information stolen from the institute to the steering clone. To cultivate such a person, from waiting for him to grow up to today, I don't know how much effort it took him. His purpose, I don't even know exactly what it is anymore."
I looked at Pei Lao with some anxiety, if he doesn't know anymore, who else can know?
Pei Lao, however, frowned and said, "There is a purpose that I know."
It was like I was grasping the last straw.
Pei Lao said word for word, "If the transmutation body doesn't die, the original body will stay alive."
"Impossible!" I directly blurted out. Although clones existed, once life was independent, how could one die and the other not?
Pei Lao coldly laughed, "That's right, this conception, we have also just conducted a preliminary study. His purpose, must be this."
I remembered the other Liu Ke, the huge scar on his body.
